RODE NTG3
Premium Precision Broadcast-Grade Short Shotgun Directional Microphone

Whilst Rode's NTG1 & 2 are designed and built to a budget, their NTG3 is their premium, flagship shotgun microphone. It is the result of years of development by Rode engineers, providing the professional broadcast and film industries with a truly uncompromising microphone.

Using a technology known as RF-bias, the Rode NTG3 is almost completely resistant to moisture, making it the only option when recording in any demanding environments where condensation is an issue. For example, a rainy English location shoot or when shooting in a humid jungle environment. When using most condenser mics in such conditions, sound recordists are regularly plagued by microphone noise (all sorts of spurious clicks and pops) and sometimes even microphone failure. So, if you need to be sure, the Rode NTG3 is your safest option.

In addition to its robust properties the NTG33 combines very low weight (163g), a durable anti-glare finish and incredibly low handling and self-noise (13dBA) to become their top-of the range shotgun microphone. And when not in use your NTG3 can be stored away in the included weather resistant aluminium storage cylinder, providing additional protection when travelling and storing the microphone. In short - if you want the best in performance and reliability, buy the NTG3.

  • Designed to withstand adverse environmental conditions

  • 50% less self-noise than the majority of shotgun microphones

  • True condenser (externally RF biased)

  • Extremely low handling noise

  • High level of immunity to radio frequency broadcast

  • Superior broadcast sound quality

  • Weather resistant aluminium storage cylinder included

  • Also available in silver (Model NTG3-S) to special order

RODE NTG4  •  NTG4+
Short Shotgun Directional Microphones (Phantom/Rechargeable)

Based on the success of their popular NTG1 & NTG2 short shotguns above, Rode's next generation evolution of these are the new NTG4 (top) & NTG4+ models bring many improvements to the affordable gun mic game, as well as two major (and very useful) innovations.

First of all these models have a newly designed gun capsule which delivers even richer sound with even lower noise. Secondly, their switching is now digital, with easier button-push selection of the 10dB Pad and High Pass Filter (75Hz). They have also introduced an innovative new switchable High Frequency Boost to counter the slight loss of HF when you are using a windshield.

And last but not least, here comes the second innovation: in the NT4+ model they have installed a rechargeable lithium battery which will keep you going for 150 or more hours and which can be charged via USB. This is the first time this has been a feature on any professional microphone.

  • Model NT4 is Phantom Powered (12-48V)

  • Model NTG4+ may be Phantom Powered (12-48V) or powered by it's onboard USB-rechargeable lithium battery

  • Model NTG4+ fully charged in under two hours via MicroUSB

  • Broadcast sound quality

  • Ultra-low noise circuitry

  • Condenser transducer

  • Rugged metal construction

  • Convenient digital switching

  • High Frequency Boost

  • High Pass Filter (Flat/75Hz)

  • PAD (-10db)

  • MicroUSB cable included

  • Ten year extended warranty

Tascam DR-10SG
Camera Mounting Short Gun Microphone with Integral Audio Recorder

The TASCAM DR-10SG packs problem-solving punch into a small package. Combining both a purpose built shotgun microphone and a professional quality digital recorder in a single unit, the DR-10SG addresses many issues faced by today’s DSLR videographer. First and foremost, the DR-10SG features an extremely directional supercardioid microphone and an integrated shock-resistant mounting foot. The dual benefits of this design include the rejection of unwanted ambient sound during filming and the avoidance of physically transmitted noise from shutter or lens mechanisms.

Coupled with this is a professional quality digital recorder featuring four selectable EQ modes, audio pass-through to the camera and an on-board audio slate for synchronization during post production. As an added safeguard against unexpected volume spikes, the DR-10SG also features TASCAM’s unique Dual Recording mode which automatically records a second “safety take” at a lower level.

Designed to deliver excellent quality, while addressing the inherent issues of on-camera audio, the DR-10SG will prove to be a valuable tool in your audio arsenal.
