First of all please remember that not
all media cards are the same! For just a few quid more we sell quality
controlled, commercial grade media, not the cheap, unchecked
consumer grade cards you can get elsewhere.
It is not always clearly understood that your media card should be
matched as closely as possible with the particular solid state sound
recorder you are using. It is most important that the header processor
within the card should be compatible in all respects with your
recorder's processor. If it is not compatible, you can easily lose vital
and irreplaceable audio files, either wholly or in part.
Sorry to say, it is
not unusual for a customer to invest a great deal of money in one of our
recorders and then use any old flash card
in it - often one from their digital camera or 'the office cupboard' -
or else they buy the cheapest card they can find. As a result, we have
heard of many genuine and unfortunate examples of people risking their
valuable audio data, sometimes even losing interviews that they have
taken many weeks to set up - only to find they have corrupted or even no
recordings at all to show for it. Yes really - we once had a BBC Radio 4
journalist pulling her hair out after losing 7 of 14 interviews she'd
done in Italy after three months of work to arrange them! Guess what?
All the interviews she lost were recorded onto a cheap SD card from a
well known high street office supplies company and all the interviews
that were perfectly fine were on a card tested, approved and supplied by
us. Imagine for one second if that were you. And all for the sake of a
few measly quid.
To ensure we recommend truly compatible cards for the machines we sell,
we conduct our own test-bench checks on a wide range of flash media. We
do this with the support of several leading card brands and the recorder
manufacturers we represent. This is the only way we can be confident
that the cards we sell will work consistently and reliably with each of
our solid state sound recorders. And
believe we are the only company taking the trouble to do this.
In most cases we only sell you commercial grade
cards (not the usual inconsistent quality, unchecked
consumer grade cards you get elsewhere). These are the grade of card
that are used in industry for critical data storage applications.
Government departments and military users choose this kind of card
because it is proven to be more reliable and less prone to data loss.
Your recordings will be much safer too with this type of media. It has
been quality controlled and checked before it reaches you.
That is why we offer you the following guarantee:
If you ever have a problem with one of our
approved media cards during its lifetime, we will swap it for a brand
new one free of charge.
